Caitlan has been attending Urban Development classes up at Merritt, in the Sustainability Resource House (very cool classroom, built of salvage!). Today I brought fruit smoothy ingredients to a pot-luck they were having. We plugged the blender into the solar power panels, and I got to make solar-powered smoothies for the first time in my life!
While I waited for them to finish their end-of-semester presentations, I took a stroll down into Leona Canyon. I saw more Buckeye and Painted Lady butterflies in a half hour than I'd seen in months! The great butterfly migration sort of passed Alameda. Leona Canyon is certainly lush right now. The only downside was that a tick tried to get me. I saw it and brushed it off my clothes. So you can tell there wasn't much of a downside! Such a glorious day.
