Fire-proof homes

Some climate scientists are wondering if the current firestorms in Southern California are the natural consequence of what could be a shift in the regional climate cycle. If the new pattern is several wet years followed by several dry years, then there will be lots of material to burn, and every three years or so we'll have these monstrous destructive episodes, as as areas that were saved last time go up this time.

Will we keep rebuilding with stick-framed housing?

Rebuilding with earth, as Nader Khalili teaches with his Super-Adobe, would result in homes that were fire-proof. As well creating less need for air-conditioning, construction with less embodied energy, homes that were more unique, spaces that fit the human scale...

The list of benefits is tremendous. One of which is that my brother the firefighter and paramedic could get more sleep.
