Another night of near freezing temperatures (dipped to 34°) but with the thermostat set to 50, the forced air didn't come on at all. And with enough blankets, it's comfortable. If someone were sick, though, I'd turn up the heat.
This pretty much confirms what I had thought: with optimal conditions for collecting the sun's heat in the day and calm conditions at night, this house will stay at least 15° warmer than the outside air. It won't stay 20° warmer. Pretty pathetic. But then, it's over 100 years old, and in desperate need of modernizing!
Brrr it was cold outside this morning, not even 40° as kids were walking to school without hats or jackets. Yes! I saw elementary school kids wallking with their friends, jacket-less! I'm glad it's going to warm up to near 60 today.
