Hybrid diesel

Of course, the "secret" goal is to buy something like this 150 pound diesel generator and mount it into the pizza-box back compartment of the Sparrow and have a real high-efficiency diesel hybrid plug-in electric. I could get as much as 100 miles to the gallon with the right set of components. Of course, I'd run it on bio-diesel so it would be a net-zero-carbon vehicle.
In my ideal world, I'd find a way to make this a project that would be eligible for a grant of some sort.
